Advanced Measurement Technology Center, Institute of Materials and Systems for Sustainability

Recruitment details

The Institute of Materials and Systems for Sustainability, Nagoya University invites applications for Professor in order to develop the research activities at the Advanced Measurement Technology Center. The institute has been certified as a “Joint Usage/Research Center of energy-friendly and sustainable energy-saving and energy-creating materials and systems research” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and it is aimed at realizing the development of environment-friendly and sustainable energy-saving and energy-creating technologies. To promote the research activities,

The Elementary Particle Measurements Section of the Advanced Measurement Technology Center currently being recruited is dedicated to advancing the development of unique radiation measurement technologies centered around the nuclear emulsion technique.
In particular, this section focuses on the development and operation of advanced measurement technologies, including systems (equipment) capable of automatically reading particle tracks recorded on nuclear emulsion plates and manufacturing equipment for nuclear emulsions. Nuclear emulsions are renowned for their extremely high resolution in measuring particle track position and angle. Furthermore, they are energy-efficient and compact, capable of recording and accumulating particle tracks without external power, simply by being placed.
So far, nuclear emulsions have been used in various applications, including radiographic inspection of large structures like ruins, γ-ray astronomy, and elementary particle physics experiments and research.
As a global hub for nuclear emulsion research and development, the Elementary Particle Measurement Section will be committed to meeting the increasing demand for capabilities and applications. Additionally, it will promote a wide range of research from fundamental to applied by enhancing crucial measurement technologies.

Research field and the professor to be considered
We are seeking particularly talented researchers who can promote the research and development of nuclear emulsion-related technologies by developing and constructing systems for the automatic track reading and analysis on nuclear emulsion, enhancing the performance of nuclear emulsions, and conducting experimental research using nuclear emulsions. Additionally, we hope to find researchers who can collaborate with domestic and international research institutions to advance this research and promote the growth of nuclear emulsion technologies as well as proactively lead the development of human resources in this field.
Nagoya University proactively recruits women if they are recognized as equal in the evaluation of performance (including research performance, educational performance, social contributions, and character).
